The Comcast Stranglehold

The current issue of Boston Business Journal has an article about how Verizon is trying to keep their television service subscriber count private. The cable companies have to report this data.

The issue of whether Verizon should have to report like the MSOs is an interesting one. But what really slammed me from the article was a chart of the number of MA subscribers of each of the MSOs. Comcast’s market share is over 75%. I knew they were big, but I didn’t know they were that pervasive. It’s good to be the king!

The article isn’t availbale online except to subscribers. I’ll try to update this when the article becomes available – it’s an interesting chart.
