Flat or Spiky?

Although I studied the Middle East in high school, and my four years at Brandeis University provided ample opportunity to further learn about the region, Thomas L. Friedman’s “From Beirut to Jerusalem” might be my strongest residual mental source of mid-east information. I was eager to read his “The World is Flat” when it came out. I was recently pointed at Richard Florida’s article “The World is Spiky” published in The Atlantic a few years ago and wanted to share here. It’s worth a look-see, even if you only explore the Tufte-quality graphics.
